Feeling Trendy in Paname
Located on the Place de Paris in the Gare area, Paname is a new bar restaurant which has brought trendy chic to the Gare area. This is in line with some of the other trendy cafes and shops which have popped up in the area too. See Ouni, and Bloom.
With marble-look menus, funny slogans on the wall, copper lighting and trendy waiters, this bar restaurant is more than just a pretty face. At a glass, it seems to be more focussed on being a bar and providing innovative and delicious cocktails like “Mama I’m not coming home tonight” (yes, that’s really what it is called and yes, it really is delicious).
But upon further inspection, you will discover that their homemade desserts are absolutely to die for, particularly the cheesecake. They do a great latte for non-drinkers and did I mention the food yet? The food is of genuine quality and though the menu selection is small, it is the perfect brunch menu. From dishes like ‘Shakshuka’, ‘avocado toast’ to ‘duck parmentier’ and ‘pulled pork sandwiches’, they prove that they are more than just a place for the hipsters with beards.
My only negative feedback is that I do wish that there was a different menu for the evening as the food that they offer is far more fitting for daytime dining. In their defence, their kitchen is really small and perhaps they don’t want too many of us dining there in the evening, perhaps it is meant to be more of a bar vibe in the evening rather than a restaurant (it is called Paname, Le Bar, after all!).
Quick summary: it’s a fantastic restaurant which is on trend, well decorated and the service is very attentive too. The taste of everything from drinks to meals to desserts could not be faulted. I’m hoping the menu gets updated from time to time as it is quite small and perhaps some evening specials could be added. Other than that, totally recommended! In the day, it is quite family friendly and it is open all-day which is a bonus if you’d like to meet someone for a quick snack or a chat over a coffee. In the evening, it is less family friendly as drinks start flowing and it is quite noisy after all (in a good way!).
