Kamakura’s new facelift has given them a pep in their step!
This high end Japanese restaurant recently had a hard time when the Grund was flooded. The restaurant was destroyed and needed a lot of work but Kamakura wasted no time and even took the opportunity to give the restaurant a facelift and what has come with their fresh new decor is food that has been levelled up too. They are proving that despite all the new restaurants popping up around Luxembourg, they are at the top of their game and are comfortably holding the spot as one of the most authentic high quality Japanese restaurants in the country.
We went with the tasting menu, the wagyu beef as a main dish and it ticked all the boxes. Some recurring feedback about the restaurant is that the menu remains the same after so many years. I don’t see this so much as a bad thing, they’re not trying to be the latest hottest Japanese restaurant in town. Rather they are the classic, they are dedicated to the quality of their produce and the seasons in which each produce grows. You won’t see dragon rolls and fire rolls and cream cheese and mango in the sushi but that is also not why you go to Kamakura. You go because you want to experience the finesse of an experienced chef where each slice of sashimi is so precisely cut and everything on your plate has a gourmet purpose. If you appreciate good quality ingredients and expertise, this is the place for you.
Glad to have you back Kamakura!
